Inspirational Stories of the Untold – The Life of Nelson Mandela

Out of all of the inspirational stories that individuals throughout history have read or heard about, the one of Nelson Mandela is – by far – one of the absolute favorites. Born in the year of 1918 in South Africa, Mandela was a person that played an active role in the anti-apartheid movement when he was in his 20s. In the 1940s, he became part of the National Congress in Africa.

inspirational storiesFor a couple of decades following this union, he headed a campaign that promoted a peaceful defiance against the government in South Africa and the extremely racist policies associated with that government. For his efforts to dismantle Africa’s apartheid system, Mandela was awarded in the year of 1993 with the Nobel Peace Prize. Despite the opposition that he faced throughout his life, he never lost hope or sight of his goals. He once said:

“It Always Seems Impossible Until it’s Done” – Nelson Mandela

Everything Mandela worked for and accomplished in his lifetime seemed absolutely impossible; yet, he had an unwavering persistence that saw him through to complete that which he set out to do. Mandela left a legacy. His work was so cherished and admired by others that his birthday was officially named, “Mandela Day”. On this day, individuals worldwide remember his contribution to global peace, and his lifelong work.

Though our goals, our dreams, and our ambitions may seem absolutely impossible, it is imperative that we remember Mandela’s words. Though it seems impossible, you must persist. When you persist, you will accomplish all that you set out to do. It is then that you will see that possibility lies in the impossible. Like Mandela, you must retain your commitment to achieving the impossible. You must retain this commitment throughout your entire lifetime. Upon doing so, you, too, will leave a legacy!

My World – Is It A Better Place?

When it comes to my world, I believe that our failures, learning, mistakes, and new beginnings are all a part of our life.

What do you believe?

my worldOprah Winfrey quoted, “So go ahead. Fall down. The world looks different from the ground.”

This quote is so true and if you look at it from a different angle through the window of a jet airplane, you will notice how small our world looks. You also see a view of how different the world looks. I notice how vehicles look to be moving like snails when I am looking out the window of a jet airplane on a clear day. At that point I realize how relaxing and how we can make our new beginnings happen in a relaxing state.

If I had taken my mistakes and failures into a fast and non-relaxed state, I would not be where I am today as I would have quit. Instead, I made the choice to start over, deal with my problems, failures, and mistakes; thus getting back up again moving in a slow, relaxed state.

Sure, there wee times when I thought it be easier to quit in my world of living through my failures and mistakes leading to my successes, but I chose not to. I chose to succeed rather than quit, but sometimes we all need to hit rock bottom to see the way out. Nine years ago I hit rock bottom and it was at that time I was able to see my way out. My way out was not easy, however was very doable and doable by dedication, commitment and hard work to achieve.

At the end of the day, our failures don’t define us; they shape us and we are all better for that. Think about what failures have shaped you for the better.

Are You Strong Willed?

Are you strong willed to releasing your negative emotions? In most cases, many people are not strong willed to releasing their negative emotions so today we will cover how to easily release them.

strong willedOvid quoted, “It is some relief to weep; grief is satisfied and carried off by tears.”

It doesn’t matter how tough or strong you think you are, it is important for each and every one of us to release our emotions. Not everyone deals with releasing their emotions like others. Some people cry a lot and some people cry infrequently. No matter how you deal with your releases, release them and you will feel like a new person.

For me, when I really need to cry, I do and when I do, I feel like a new person. Mind you, that is few and far between that I need to do so as I live a pretty positive life keeping the negativity out of it.

By crying to release your negative emotions, you are becoming strong willed to release the negativity in your life and it’s a great way to let go and release. It’s not healthy to bottle up sad and negative emotions, so allow yourself to release them.

Inspirational Stories of the Untold– A Man, a Weed Eater, and a Gas Can

The most inspirational stories are those that directly pertain to an individual that had no intention of bestowing inspiration upon others – at least that is what most people say. Today’s story is about a man, a weed eater, and a gas can. One day, a man arrived to a little Florida neighborhood where just about everyone knew everyone.

inspirational storiesHis hair was long, curly, and sun-bleached. He did not wear a shirt – only blue jeans, stained and torn, and an old pair of sneakers. In one hand, he carried a weed eater and in the other, he carried a gas can. As people passed him, he tossed up the hand carrying the gas can to greet them, and displayed a smile.

Many were curious about him, but one lady gained a particular interest in him. Why was he presently walking along the roads of the neighborhood that she grew up on? Where did he come from? Where was he going? One day, while at a gas station within the neighborhood, she overheard the man speaking to another that was offering him a ride. Apparently, he was asked where he was headed or something, because the man with the weed eater and the gas can stated the following:

“If you don’t know where you’re going, any road will get you there.”

The woman’s interest piqued in the stranger. Each and every single day she was out and about, she would see the man – with his weed eater, his gas can, and his smile. Sometimes, he was talking to others – seemingly trying to acquire work. In some instances, he was in yards around the neighborhood working. At other times, he was simply walking up and down the roads. She started to wave at the man, and – as always – he would smile and throw up the hand with the gas can to return the greeting. One day, she finally decided to approach him. There was just something about him and the words that he spoke that day at the gas station that drew her interest. She said “Hello” and inquired about his weed eater and his gas can. He was quite friendly and was quite the conversationalist – to her surprise.

The man explained to the woman that he was homeless, and was passing through – more or less. During his life, he had owned a lawn care business. He had married. He and his wife had a child together. One day, though, tragedy struck. His wife and child were in a car accident – which left both of them dead. He was not financially prepared for this type of tragedy and had to sell all of his lawn equipment off from his business to provide his wife and daughter with the funerals and gravesites that he felt that they deserved. Due to the complications occurring within the economy, he was unable to find work. He lost every single thing he had ever worked for and everything that had brought him the most happiness in life. With only a small amount of money in his pocket, he hit the road – on foot

He struggled – emotionally and physically. He just knew that this was the end. He felt as if he had lost all connection with the world and would never be a part of it again. He hit bottom – rock bottom – and considered taking his own life. One night, he sat on the edge of an old apartment complex, crying, praying to God, and truly contemplating the purpose of his life. After a long prayer, a lot of tears, and a sign that he should go on, he looked up and saw a large pile of trash beside the road, waiting to be picked up.

Apparently, some tenants had moved and the owners of the apartment had cleaned out their apartment and lawn area. That is when he saw it – an old weed eater, a gas can, and the teddy bear – the one that looked exactly like his daughter’s favorite, the one that he had placed in her casket when she was laid to rest. He walked over and picked up all three items. He knew it was a sign from his family to go on. He also found an old journal in the rubbish. It was the type that had little quotes on the pages. The first quote that he saw when he opened the journal was, “If you don’t know where you’re going any road will get you there”. He then pulled the little piece of paper with the quote out and showed it to the woman.

He continued to explain that he repaired the weed eater and spent a few dollars to fill up his gas can. He then started offering to do yards for people. He did not make much, but, it helped him get basic necessities and even a luxury every now and then – like a cup of coffee. He decided that, he would not dream of a home, nice clothes, or a good job anymore. Instead, he would place his trust in God and he would just travel any road. He knew he would get exactly where God wanted him to be, and in the meantime, he would ensure that the man got enough work to survive. Out of all inspirational stories, the woman was truly moved by this story. She was not the only one, though. A local reporter happened to be in the area and overhead the story, too. She immediately asked to run his story. He agreed. Out of all the inspirational stories ran in the local newspapers – his was the one that took off. Before long, it was published across all major media outlets.

Today, the man with the weed eater and gas can not only has a home, clothes, a car, and his lawn business back, he also opened a shelter for the homeless called, “Any Road”. His vision is based on the quote that he continues to carry in his pocket – “If you don’t know where you’re going, any road will get you there” with the mission that he is personally committed to helping those who have lost their way in life get to where they need to be or are supposed to be. We could all learn a great deal from the man with the weed eater and gas can. By eliminating the weeds of the world, we are sure to discover a place where the grass truly is greener.
